San Pasqual
is a small “hamlet” located north of San Diego and just seven miles from Escondido in the rolling San Diego County foothills of southern California. The beautiful San Pasqual Valley is known for its’ vineyards. Using state-of-the-art technology combined with Old World craftsmanship, the winemakers of San Pasqual Valley produce an exceptional variety of premium wines. It is also the site of the San Pasqual Battlefield State Historical Monument, which marks the site of a battle in the Mexican-American War that took place in December of 1846. A historic park is located on a hillside, overlooking the battle site and includes the American soldier’s campsite after the battle. This fifty-acre park features a Visitor’s Center, amphitheater, picnic tables and a half-mile nature trail. The area around San Pasqual includes opportunities for camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking, mountain biking and boating at Dixon Lake, Lake Wohlford and Daley Ranch. Plus, San Pasqual is an easy drive to all of the major San Diego attractions, such as Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and Old Town San Diego.

The mountains and foothills region northeast of San Diego is one of the only places in southern California that enjoys four seasons. At 4000 feet, the elevation, clean air and blue skies add to the overall beauty of the region. Spring is generally mild and wildflowers decorate the backcountry while a profusion of daffodils is evident throughout the small towns of the area. Average summer temperatures fall in the 80s with occasional summer rains July through August. Most of the summer, however, you can expect clear, sunny skies and dry weather. The first cold spell of fall begins a profusion of color as the trees prepare for a winter and the first rains begin in October. Expect lots of rain, gentle snowfalls and cool temperatures November through March.
