Rancho Santa Fe s a close-knit, unincorporated community located in San Diego County. Often referred to by residents as simply “The Ranch,” Rancho Santa Fe is an exclusive, private area and one of the ten wealthiest communities in the U.S.A. In 1989, it was designated a State Historical Landmark by the state of California. There are several areas within the community. The Rancho Santa Fe Covenant was one of the first planned communities in the state. It includes the downtown area, two large Spanish-style condominium complexes and 45 miles of riding trails (available only to residents.) The main street of town, Paseo Delicias, is lined with small shops and restaurants, but there are no sidewalks, street lights or street addresses throughout the community in order to maintain privacy. The schools here are very high rated and the Rancho Santa Fe Golf and Tennis Club is open only to covenant residents. Home lots are uncommonly large and there are strict design restrictions. Few homes in Rancho Santa Fe are visible from the road. The Covenant is bordered on the north by Escondido Creek and on the south by the San Dieguito River. To the east is Camino del Norte and to the west is El Camino Real. Horsemans Valley is a small community adjacent to San Dieguito Park and Rancho Cielo is a gated community east of the Covenant. Morgan Run is a golf course community that is surrounded by the Morgan Run Golf Course in the southern portion of Rancho Santa Fe. Fairbanks Ranch, Hacienda Santa Fe, The Summit, Del Rayo, The Bridges, The River Estates and The Crosby Estates are also located in the area.

Rancho Santa Fe Weather & Climate

Sunshine almost every day and winters that are mild and free of snow attract millions to the southern California coastline, between Los Angeles and San Diego, every year. The climate is mostly classified as Mediterranean with winters being just a few degrees cooler than summers. There is little to no rain from May through September or October, which is great for outdoors activities, but bad for fire danger. Fog and low clouds usually hug the coastline in the summertime in the late evening and the wee hours of the morning, but burns off by midday. The rainy season generally runs November through March or sometimes April. Thunderstorms are infrequent and light. As you move further inland away from the cooling effect of the ocean breezes, temperatures become warmer with more variation between summer and winter.
