Port Hueneme
is a seaside community located on Highway 101 between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and just south of Oxnard. Many consider it one of the last few “undiscovered” beaches in southern California. Port Hueneme (pronounced “Why-nee-mee”) has long sandy beaches, lush farms and fields, sparking blue ocean and beach-style living. Port Hueneme is also the site of the largest commercial deep-water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This lovely town has a very well maintained beach park, and over 90 acres of parkland inside the city limits. You will find specialty shops and galleries and fine restaurants in Port Hueneme, a community center, historical museum and a cultural arts center, and crime in Port Hueneme is one of the lowest in the country. The weather is unbelievable, with an average daytime temperature of 71 degrees and 45 to 58 at night, year round, making it perfect for just about any kind of outdoor pursuit. You will find plenty of opportunities for swimming, surfing, beachcombing, fishing, boating, hiking and biking. Port Hueneme is considered part of the Ventura area, and is just minutes from the Channel Islands National Park and the beach communities of Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Malibu.

Rich, fertile farmlands surround the southern California coast between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. A sunny Mediterranean climate is greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean, where summers are dry and warm and winters are wet and mild. This area has more than 315 days of sunshine per year with very low humidity levels. Low clouds and fog often move inland from the ocean in the evening and persist until the wee hours of the morning. By noon, the fog burns off and the sunshine returns. Cool ocean breezes keeps temperatures from getting too hot. The rainy season generally runs November through March and the area receives approximately 18 inches of rainfall per year.
