Carpinteria
is a seaside community located 12 miles south of Santa Barbara and 15 miles north of Ventura. This beautiful little village is one of California’s best kept secrets, with over 4,000 feet of gorgeous beachfront set against a backdrop of mountains. The average daily temperature in Carpinteria ranges from the 60s to 80s, making it perfect for year round outdoor activities. It’s home to Carpinteria Beach State Park, which offers overnight camping, fishing, picnicking, hiking and tide pooling. Carpinteria Beach, called “the world’s safest beach,” is perfect for long, romantic walks at sunset, and Rincon Point is a world-renowned surfing area. The main streets of town are lined with dozens of restaurants, galleries, antique and specialty shops, and a weekly Farmer’s Market is held in Carpinteria, featuring fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables and flowers. Each year in October, the Carpinteria Avocado Festival is held in the downtown streets, where you will find food, arts and crafts and lots of good family fun. Other attractions in town include the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History and the Seaside Theater Company, a local theater group. Called the %u201CAmerican Riviera,%u201D the region of southern California between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains that includes Santa Barbara has a lovely, mild year round climate. With approximately 315 days of sunshine per year, the area%u2019s weather is greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. It receives about 18 inches of rainfall per year, most of that between the months of December and March. Dry conditions and low humidity levels prevail the rest of the year. Evening temperatures are cool all year long. Low clouds or early morning fog is sometimes present along the coast in summer, but almost always burns off by midday. The inland and mountains areas of Santa Barbara County see slightly hotter high temperatures and colder low temperatures.
