Ojai
Valley was used in the movie, "Far Horizons," depicting Shangri-La, and no better way describes this lush, green valley. Ojai, which is an Indian name meaning "moon," is located in Ventura County at the edge of the Los Padres National Forest. A winding road connects the upper valley to the lower valley as you look down on orange, lemon and avocado groves. It's especially nice in springtime when the sweet scent of the blossoming trees fills the air, and poppies and wildflowers cover the hills. The small, charming village of Ojai is built in the Spanish style, and offers art galleries, fine restaurants, unique gift shops and clothing stores. Near perfect weather makes the Ojai Valley outstanding for hiking and horseback riding, tennis and golf. Ojai is the gateway to miles of beautiful trails, parks and campgrounds, and outstanding vistas that will take your breath away. With a close proximity to Los Angeles, Ojai has long been a favorite retreat for celebrities and others in the entertainment industry. Many people come to relax at one of the world class spas, or simply wander through the village, letting nature and the calm atmosphere ease their cares away. Ojai Valley offers visitors a peaceful respite from the bright lights and excitement of other southern California cities.

Southern California is home to a small, sun-drenched valley, approximately 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, that closely resembles Tuscany or the south of France in both weather and appearance. The Ojai Valley is ten miles long and three miles wide and encompasses the towns of Meiners Oaks, Mira Monte, Oak View and Casitas Springs. This region has a mild Mediterranean climate that offers more than 300 days of sunshine per year and warm, dry summers and very mild winters. The climate is greatly influenced by the ocean, but since it lies inland just a few miles, temperatures are slightly warmer than right along the coastline. The rainy season is between November and March, with low clouds and fog sometimes present in the early hours of the morning. Otherwise, it is usually sunny with pleasant ocean breezes.
