Jamul
is a beautiful little town located in the desert foothills of the San Diego Mountains. It is approximately 18 miles southeast of San Diego along Highway 94, and is situated about halfway between the city of San Diego and the Cleveland National Forest. So, depending on your mood, you can either spend your time in the city or explore the pine forests, lakes and streams of the nearby state parks and forests. This is an exceptional area for outdoor recreation, where almost any kind of sport imaginable is available. For beach activities such as swimming, surfing, sunning, jet skiing, sailing and sandcastle building, head west to the shores of Pacific Ocean. For mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding, wildlife viewing and camping, travel east to the mountains. For golfers, there are over 90 challenging golf courses located within San Diego County. Jamul is also near Cuyamaca Peak, which at 6,512 feet, is the second highest point in San Diego County. It is such a versatile area, where nature lovers will find unlimited possibilities for adventurous fun and relaxation. The Baja Peninsula is generally one of the hottest and driest places on the North American continent. However, a small coastal area of northwestern Mexico surrounding Tijuana has more of a Mediterranean climate with considerable coastal fog and a winter rainy season similar to southern California. Here the rainy season runs November through March, with very little to no precipitation the rest of the year. Winter storms, generated as far away as the Gulf of Alaska provide areas along the coast west of the mountains with up to 12 inches of rain per year %u2013 which is enough to support sizable forest at the higher elevations. Evenings can be chilly any time of the year in comparison to warm daytime temperatures.
