San Diego is most well known for four big attractions; the world famous San Diego Zoo, Legoland, Sea World and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. However, this beautiful southern California city has much more to offer visitors. Sunny skies, warm ocean breezes and an average year round temperature of 70 degrees makes San Diego perfect for swimmers, surfers, and sunbathers who are drawn to the beautiful, white sand beaches. The city’s many reservoirs and parks offer even more opportunities for hiking, swimming, boating and fishing, windsurfing and more. San Diego is also home to over 90 golf courses. Outdoor fun isn’t the only thing to do in this diverse city. San Diego hosts hundreds of special events each year and is home to Balboa Park, which has the largest concentration of museums east of the Mississippi. The Birch Aquarium is a fun and educational attraction for children and adults alike, and Old Town San Diego is filled with delightful shops, restaurants, a theater and open space for children to play. History buffs will enjoy visiting the three old Spanish missions located in San Diego County. For lodging, this beautiful city has budget friendly hotels and motels, bed & breakfasts, luxurious oceanfront inns and spas. For dining, San Diego has hundreds of choices, everything from fast food to four star restaurants. Whether youre looking for a vacation at the beach, family attractions or exciting nightlife, you’ll likely find it all in San Diego.

San Diego Weather & Climate

Extreme Southern California,  in the San Diego area, enjoys a beautiful, mild climate year round. January is generally the coldest and wettest month of the year, and August is usually the warmest month. In actuality, however, there is very little variation throughout the year in temperature in the coastal region, except when easterly winds off the desert pushes the temperature up a few degrees. The dry season runs May through September with very little measurable precipitation during this time. October is a transitional month, and is usually dry but can have variable weather. Fog and low clouds along the coast are common, but usually burn off by noon. A marked feature of the climate in this region is the wide variation within a short distance due to the topography of the area. Visitors can enjoy a coastal climate, mountains and desert all within a day%u2019s drive of each other.
