Bay Park
is a neighborhood of San Diego, located in the northern section of the city, near Mission Bay. All of the San Diego attractions are conveniently located near Bay Park, with easy access to other parts of southern California, as well. Mission Beach, located on Mission Bay, is a San Diego favorite among locals and visitors alike. It contains a colorful Boardwalk that runs for three miles ending north of Pacific Beach and is always filled with bicyclists, runners, skateboarders and rollerbladers, and has designated lanes for walking. The southern part of Mission Beach is known for its’ beach volleyball. Mission Bay, which contains two islands with many coves and inlets, has a large marina for pleasure boaters, and facilities for picnics, camping and fishing. The community of Bay Park is also near Belmont Park, once the site of an amusement park that now is home to shops and restaurants, and a completely restored rollercoaster. Other well-known San Diego attractions near Bay Park include the San Diego Zoo, Legoland, Sea World and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Plus, the city of San Diego hosts hundreds of special events throughout the year. Old Town San Diego is filled with interesting shops, restaurants and cafes and is a treat for history buffs. Also, for those who enjoy history, a visit to the three Old Spanish Missions of San Diego County is a must see.

Extreme Southern California, in the San Diego area, enjoys a beautiful, mild climate year round. January is generally the coldest and wettest month of the year, and August is usually the warmest month. In actuality, however, there is very little variation throughout the year in temperature in the coastal region, except when easterly winds off the desert pushes the temperature up a few degrees. The dry season runs May through September with very little measurable precipitation during this time. October is a transitional month, and is usually dry but can have variable weather. Fog and low clouds along the coast are common, but usually burn off by noon. A marked feature of the climate in this region is the wide variation within a short distance due to the topography of the area. Visitors can enjoy a coastal climate, mountains and desert all within a day%u2019s drive of each other.
