Guerneville
is located along Highway 116 in Sonoma County, near the Russian River in northern California. Having gotten its start as a railroad town, Guerneville is rich in history and has an authentic Pacific Coast Railway Depot and several vintage rail cars on display. The town of Guerneville has retained a hometown feeling with an old general store and family-owned businesses, along with fine restaurants and convenient shopping. By far, the main attraction in town, however, is the scenic Russian River. Surrounded by thick forests, the river area is a great place for swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and golf. Many people come to Guerneville to see the Armstrong Woods State Reserve, a 750-acre forest of old growth Redwoods. The Woods has self-guided tours through the groves of redwoods, and offers picnic areas and guided horseback trips of up to three days. Guerneville is also near several of Sonoma County’s prime wineries, open for tours and wine tasting. And, while in town, you will want to take advantage of one of the day spas for a relaxing and therapeutic full body massage. As for lodging, Guerneville has a large selection of hotels, inns, bed and breakfasts and rental homes available for visitors. Everything you could possibly want in a relaxing vacation is available to you in the picturesque town of Guerneville.

The Northern California coast region, including the Russian River area, has a climate of mild days and cool nights %u2013 even in summertime. Right along the coast, low clouds and fog that usually burns off by early afternoon, is common. The further inland you go away from the ocean, the sunnier it is. There is little or no rain May through September. The rainy season begins in late October or November, with January and February being the wettest months. Flooding is a problem in winter when rains are heavy within a short period of time, mostly due to the many creeks and rivers in the area. Strong winds are usually present right along the coastline, but lessen as you travel inland. Fall is generally the sunniest season along the northern California coast.
