Duncans Mills
is a small coastal community located west of the town of Guerneville along the Sonoma Coast in northern California. This is near the Sonoma County Wine Country in the picturesque rolling hills north of San Francisco. The town is home to Duncans Mills Restorations, a Victorian Village that borders the Russian River. Here, buildings of the 1880s era have been restored as tourist attractions and gift shops. Visitors can easy access Duncans Mills Restorations by either the Coast Highway (Highway 1,) or the Redwoods Highway. The nearby Russian River offers an abundance of recreations possibilities, such as swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The Armstrong Woods State Reserve is a 750-acre forest of old growth Redwoods with self-guided tours, picnic areas and guided horseback trips through the forest. The town of Guerneville has day spas with mud baths and lots of shopping and restaurants. Duncans Mills is also just a short drive to the cities of Healdsburg and Santa Rosa. For a relaxing treat, take a drive through the beautiful Sonoma County Wine Country, well known for its award-winning wineries, fabulous restaurants and unique historical sites and other attractions. This peaceful area is home to world-class spas, bed & breakfasts, old country inns and wonderful shops and boutiques.

The Northern California coast region, including the Russian River area, has a climate of mild days and cool nights %u2013 even in summertime. Right along the coast, low clouds and fog that usually burns off by early afternoon, is common. The further inland you go away from the ocean, the sunnier it is. There is little or no rain May through September. The rainy season begins in late October or November, with January and February being the wettest months. Flooding is a problem in winter when rains are heavy within a short period of time, mostly due to the many creeks and rivers in the area. Strong winds are usually present right along the coastline, but lessen as you travel inland. Fall is generally the sunniest season along the northern California coast.
