Loomis
is located in central California, just northeast of Sacramento. Loomis is a small, rural town with a quaint downtown set among rolling hills and woodlands. Loomis is also a farming community and is famous for the Eggplant Festival, usually held in September. The festival features a classic car show, live entertainment, games and pony rides, and, of course, the famous eggplant in everything from dips, salads and even the frosting on a cake! From Loomis, it's just a short drive to Folsom Lake where you will find swimming, boating, fishing, hiking and camping. There are also nearby trails for bicycles and horseback riding. Loomis is set at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills and is only about an hour's drive from Lake Tahoe. And, in the opposite direction, Loomis is a little over an hour from San Francisco. Just outside of Loomis, you can take a leisurely drive among oak-covered hillsides and farmland and natural streams. Visit the nearby gold mining towns of Auburn, Nevada City, and Sutter's Creek. Nearby Sacramento has a variety of shopping and dining choices, as well as other attractions such as the State Capitol and Rose Garden and Sutter's Fort. For a serene vacation spot, centrally located near other California attractions, the little town of Loomis is a splendid choice!

The foothills region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in Northeastern California, enjoys warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Many people are surprised to find such a marked change of seasons at this elevation, but leaves change and temperatures drop as the rainy season begins in fall. This area receives lots of rain November through March and it begins to taper off in spring. Summers are hot and dry with sunshine almost every day. Fog is sometimes a problem in winter, although not as common as in the lower elevations. Thunderstorms are rare, but can happen any time of the year. As you move higher into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the seasons are even more distinct and snow can become quite deep in winter.
