Cold-Springs
is a vacation home community located in the central Sierras' Stanislaus National Forest, approximately 10 minutes from Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. Nearby are three other wilderness areas; the Emigrant Wilderness, Iceberg-Carson Wilderness and the Hoover Wilderness. This area is known for its year round outdoors sports opportunities. Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge are the closest High Sierra recreational playgrounds to the San Francisco Bay Area, where city dwellers love to come and spend their free time. Summertime activities in and around Cold Springs include swimming, water skiing, fishing and boating, river rafting, wind surfing, horseback riding, golf and gold panning. There are nearby caves and caverns to explore, picturesque gold mining towns to visit, and backpacking and hiking the wilderness trails of the Stanislaus National Forest. Beardsly Lake is another popular retreat near Cold Springs. Winter brings snow to Dodge Ridge and opportunities for beginners and advanced levels of downhill skiing. There are miles of groomed trails for cross-country skiing, as well as hills for snowplay, inner tubes, toboggans and sledding. The views from Cold Springs are breathtaking - every season of the year.

The foothills region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in Northeastern California, enjoys warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Many people are surprised to find such a marked change of seasons at this elevation, but leaves change and temperatures drop as the rainy season begins in fall. This area receives lots of rain November through March and it begins to taper off in spring. Snow is possible, but rare. Summers are hot and dry with sunshine almost every day. Fog is sometimes a problem in winter, although not as common as in the lower elevations. Thunderstorms are rare, but can happen any time of the year. As you move higher into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the seasons are even more distinct and snow can become quite deep in winter.
