Vista
is a city of approximately 90,000 residents, located in San Diego County, just southeast of Oceanside. Together with Carlsbad and Oceanside, it makes up what is commonly referred to as the “Tri-City Area.” The town of Vista is home to several unique attractions. There are two city-supported theaters, the Avo Playhouse and the Moonlight Amphitheater, the latter being an open-air theater that specializes in musical productions during the summer months. There are several city parks in Vista, and the Guajome County Park offers 557 acres of land for horseback riding, camping, hiking and is the site of the Rancho Guajome Adobe, a National Historic Landmark. In addition, the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe, is located on East Vista Drive and is open for tours Wednesdays through Saturdays, with a gift shop and art gallery on the premises. The city of Vista also operates the Wave Waterpark, located near the downtown area and open from mid-spring to mid-fall. Also, be sure to visit the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum, an open-air museum on 55-acres of rolling farmland that features agricultural equipment from the 1849 to 1950. Exhibits at the museum include a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, country kitchen and parlor, steam and gas industrial power units, farm equipment and more.

Sunshine almost every day and winters that are mild and free of snow attract millions to the southern California coastline, between Los Angeles and San Diego, every year. The climate is mostly classified as Mediterranean with winters being just a few degrees cooler than summers. There is little to no rain from May through September or October, which is great for outdoors activities, but bad for fire danger. Fog and low clouds usually hug the coastline in the summertime in the late evening and the wee hours of the morning, but burns off by midday. The rainy season generally runs November through March or sometimes April. Thunderstorms are infrequent and light. As you move further inland away from the cooling effect of the ocean breezes, temperatures become warmer with more variation between summer and winter.
