Fallbrook
has a rural countryside setting, and is north of San Diego, between San Juan Capistrano and Escondido. Known as the “Avocado Capital of the World,” Fallbrook is most famous for their annual Avocado Festival, usually held in April. Here, you can sample world class guacamole, purchase avocados by the pound or by the tree, and check out the live music, arts and crafts and rides! And don’t miss the Avo Olympics, including an avocado pit spitting contest and avocado croquet! But Fallbrook is more than just avocados. It’s a friendly town, with a relaxed and “homey” atmosphere. Main street in Fallbrook is reminiscent of some of the East Coast historical towns, where you can find art, antiques, and one of a kind gifts. Four golf courses are within a ten-mile radius of town, and miles of horseback riding trails meander through the hills and farmland. Fallbrook is also home to a 26-acre park that offers playgrounds, picnic areas, flower gardens and open space. Just outside of town is the Los Jilgueros Preserve where you can view native California flora and fauna. Fallbrook is country life, yet only two hours from the West Coast urban areas of San Diego and Los Angeles. So, for peace and quiet, and someplace a little different, don’t miss the town of Fallbrook!

Sunshine almost every day and winters that are mild and free of snow attract millions to the southern California coastline, between Los Angeles and San Diego, every year. The climate is mostly classified as Mediterranean with winters being just a few degrees cooler than summers. There is little to no rain from May through September or October, which is great for outdoors activities, but bad for fire danger. Fog and low clouds usually hug the coastline in the summertime in the late evening and the wee hours of the morning, but burns off by midday. The rainy season generally runs November through March or sometimes April. Thunderstorms are infrequent and light. As you move further inland away from the cooling effect of the ocean breezes, temperatures become warmer with more variation between summer and winter.
