Trinidad is a tiny fishing village located in Humboldt County on the northern California coast. This charming village is just 80 miles south of the Oregon border, and sits on a rugged, rocky bluff overlooking the ocean. Trinidad is also home to one of the most photographed lighthouses on the California Coast at Trinidad Harbor. This beautiful red-capped lighthouse is actually a replica of the original that was built in 1871, and sits proudly above the Harbor, overlooking the coastline to the south. Trinidad Head has hiking trails that lead to spectacular ocean views, and a partial view of the lighthouse. Although small, Trinidad is home to the Humboldt State University Marine Lab & Aquarium, the Pacific Arts Center, the Humboldt Light Opera and the North Coast Repertory Theater. Ten public beaches offer great opportunities for swimming (if it's not too cool,) hiking, exploring tide pools, rock climbing, surfing, and viewing birds and sea life. You can fish off the Pier, or charter a boat for deep-sea fishing. There is also a full access boat launch at Trinidad Harbor and Pier, and free boat launch for small boats and kayaks. Whether you come for relaxation or the thrill of the outdoors, Trinidad is an adventurous vacation destination. Don't forget to bring your camera because this picturesque little town and the dramatic Pacific Ocean and coastline makes for some great photography.

Trinidad Weather & Climate

Northwest California ,near the Pacific Ocean, has a cool weather climate year round. Summer temperatures are usually in the 60s and rarely exceed 80 degrees. Unlike many other parts of the state, rain can be expected almost any month of the year, although the official rainy season runs October through early April. The average annual rainfall is 75 inches per year. Located near the Pacific Ocean, this region frequently experiences low clouds and fog right along the coastline, with clearing the further inland you travel. The same cool, ocean mists that nurture the giant redwoods of the region provide relief for visitors who come to the area to escape the summer heat of the interior valleys. Fall is often the warmest and sunniest season of the year.
