Willow-Creek
is described as a "rugged mountain community nestled in the heart of the Six Rivers National Forest." This area of California is located along the Trinity River in the Shasta/Cascade Region, near the Oregon border, and is easily reached via Highways 299 and 96. Outdoor recreational enthusiasts love Willow Creek, where the most popular activities are fishing and rafting. The salmon and steelhead fishing is spectacular, and Willow Creek has been a favorite fishing spot among anglers for centuries. The Willow Creek area also has several world class rivers for rafting, all within a 45 minute drive. The Klamath River is legendary and is considered California's "premier multi-day river trip." The upper Trinity River offers a classic Class III run with moderate rapids, followed by the Burnt Ranch Gorge, which is one of the toughest runs in the state. The lower Trinity is also a scenic ride, popular among canoeists and tubers. Other activities near Willow Creek include swimming, hiking, golf, birding and wildlife viewing and camping. It's also an incredible area for scenic drives, where from selected vista points along U.S. Forest Route 1, you can view Mount Shasta and the Pacific Ocean simultaneously. In town, a visit to the Hupa Tribal Museum is worthwhile, and Willow Creek is also the place of many "Bigfoot" sightings and is called the "Gateway to Bigfoot Country."

Climate in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest region varies greatly with elevation. Located in North-Central California, the National Forest covers over two million acres. Higher elevations tend to have much cooler temperatures and higher precipitation. Summer weather is usually hot and dry in the lower elevations, with temperatures ranging from 85 degrees - 100 degrees and lows from 60- 70 degrees. Fall days are usually mild and warm, with cool nights. Winter is when most of the precipitation falls, averaging over 55 inches per year, much of it in the form of snow in the high elevations. Highs range from 40 - 60 degrees and lows from 30 - 40 degrees in the lower elevations in winter. Spring weather is variable with many pleasant days and cool nights.
