Pine-Mountain-Club
is a tiny community located in a pine-forested valley surrounded by 7000-foot mountain peaks. Most people have never heard of Pine Mountain Club, the little town with the unusual name. It's part of Kern County, and is just 40 miles north of the Santa Barbara Coast and only 18 miles from Interstate 5. It's surrounded by the lush Los Padres National Forest with lots of crystal clear creeks running throughout the area. There are no ski resorts, no large recreational lakes or other tourist spots, which makes it the ideal mountain get-away for those looking for peace and seclusion. There are some small shops in the area that caters to weekend visitors, and there is one (very good) restaurant located in Pine Mountain Club. The highways are usually empty and the scenery is spectacular, so it's a favorite place among motorcycle riders, and dirt bike enthusiasts love the abundant dirt back roads. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, wildlife viewing and birdwatching, cross-country skiing and sledding. Pine Mountain Club consists mostly of cabins and private homes of weekend visitors and a few full time residents. The community's slogan is "On the way to no where," but sometimes that's exactly where you want to go.

Pine Mountain Club Weather & Climate

Called "The American Riviera," the region of southern California between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains (that includes Santa Barbara) has a lovely, mild year round climate. With approximately 315 days of sunshine per year, the area's weather is greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. It receives about 18 inches of rainfall per year, most of that between the months of December and March. Dry conditions and low humidity prevails the rest of the year. Evening temperatures are cool all year long. Low clouds or early morning fog is sometimes present along the coast in summer, but almost always burns off by midday. The inland areas, including the small, sun-drenched Ojai Valley, sees slightly hotter high temperatures and colder low temperatures than right along the coast. This region closely resembles Tuscany or the south of France in both weather and appearance.
