Jalama-Beach
is located in Santa Barbara County, near the town of Lompoc. Getting to the beach is an adventure in itself. From Santa Barbara, take the 101 Freeway north about 30 miles to the Pacific Coast Highway. Exit north on the PCH where the sign says "Lompoc & Vandenberg AFB." Travel approximately 15 miles to Jalama Road. From here, the road travels past peaceful fields and across the oak-dotted hills of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Fourteen miles later, the ocean appears before you. Jalama Beach may be one of the best kept secrets of the state - not that it never gets busy. On summer weekends, the beach can get a bit crowded, but it's still a respite from most of the bustling seaside parks and beaches in California. Activities at Jalama Beach include swimming, surfing, fishing, kite flying, beachcombing, whale-watching and sail boarding. There is also a Santa Barbara County Park and Campgrounds located at Jalama Beach, where all campsites overlook the ocean or beachfront. Each site offers a picnic table and BBQ pit, with restrooms and hot showers nearby. Jalama Beach is also home to a restaurant, famous for its burgers, and a store that offers groceries, beer and wine, bait and tackle, video rentals and mail services.

Jalama Beach Weather & Climate

The climate of the Los Alamos area is very similar to that of the central coast cities such as Santa Barbara. Although located slightly inland, the weather is influenced greatly by the Pacific Ocean. Temperatures are pleasant year round, although it is slightly warmer in summer and slightly cooler in winter than right along the coastline. The Los Alamos region gets over 300 days of sunshine per year and has very low humidity levels. The rainy season runs November through March, with only about 18 inches of rain per year. Low clouds from the ocean can drift into the area in summertime, but mostly skies are clear and sunny. Cooling ocean breezes help moderate the temperatures.
