Desert-Hot-Springs
is a small town located at the foot of the Little San Bernardino Mountain Range, north of Palm Springs. This interesting little city is known for their hot springs mineral water spas and resorts. People come from all over the world to soak in their rejuvenating waters, and many claim they have healing powers and bolster nutrition. Aside from the luxurious resorts located in Desert Hot Spring, most of the town's hotels offer their own thermal baths, as well. Nearby Joshua Tree State Park and the Coachella Valley provide hiking, biking, horseback riding, ballooning and more for the outdoor enthusiasts. Desert Hot Springs is also home to a beautiful 18-hole golf course located at the northwest edge of town. Other attractions include Cabot's Old Indian Pueblo, and Hot Springs Park, which is an educational park open to the public. For cultural events, there are the concerts, museums and theaters available in neighboring Palm Springs and the surrounding area. The vast desert region of southern California east of Los Angeles has a typical desert climate. This area, which includes Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage receives only 15-20 days of rainfall per year for a total of 4.77 inches. The days are mostly sunny and warm and nights are cool from fall through late spring. Summers turn hot to very hot, with occasional high clouds, and warm, balmy evenings May through October. The humidity levels are very low, so even when the mercury climbs to 100 degrees, it feels comfortable in the shade. Keep in mind that temperatures are 30-40 degrees lower at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and in the Alpine community of Idyllwild.
