Pinecrest
is a tiny town located within the Stanislaus National Forest of Tuolumne County in northern California. This little resort community offers both summer and winter recreation near Pinecrest Lake in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Gold Country. All the outdoor activities imaginable are available such as hiking, golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, rafting, fishing, and even panning for gold. In winter, the mountains turn to a wonderland of snow with skiing, snowboarding and sledding available at nearby Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. The mountainous terrain, pine trees and many nearby lakes, rivers, creeks and streams make Pinecrest a nature lover and photographer's dreamland. Pinecrest is near the historic gold mining towns of Twain Harte, Sonora, Jamestown and Mi-wuk Village, and just a short drive to beautiful Yosemite National Park. In the Sierra Nevada foothills region of Tuolumne County, you will feel secluded and serene, with no crowds and no traffic problems. It feels a world apart, yet is only two hours from one of the most sophisticated cities in the world - San Francisco. Pinecrest Weather & Climate

The Sierra Nevada Foothills region, or the "Mother Lode," as it is sometimes called, has four mild seasons. In fall, the leaves change and temperatures begin to drop. Winters receive lots of rain in November through March, and it is cool enough at night for a fire in the fireplace, but rarely does it ever snow in the foothills. Spring is very pleasant with showers sometimes continuing through April and May. Summers are hot, dry and sunny. The foothills region is usually a few degrees cooler than the lower valley regions in summer. Fog, which is often a problem at lower elevations in winter, occurs less frequently here. Many people from the Valley travel "above the fog" in the wintertime for a much-needed sunshine break. Thunderstorms can occur anytime in California, but they are very light and infrequent.
