Pacific Palisades is located along the Pacific Coast Highway 1, between Malibu and Santa Monica. Most of the city sits on the “palisades” or high bluffs that run for three miles along the Pacific shore. Pacific Palisades is actually a town within the city of Los Angeles, although residents work hard to retain their individuality and “small village” atmosphere. This is where Sunset Blvd. meets the ocean in a spectacular show of nature! To the north are the rugged Santa Monica Mountains, where six canyons wind their way down to the shore. Clean ocean air, an average temperature of 69 degrees and breathtaking views makes Pacific Palisades very popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The village has a population of approximately 25, 000 and is home to many celebrities and the very affluent. The downtown business district has attractive tree lined streets, unique shops and services and outdoor cafes. Other attractions in town include the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Will Rogers State Historical Park, Temescal Canyon Park, Sunset Beach and numerous hiking trails and parks. Pacific Palisades is an outstanding community for families who want a vacation base at the ocean, near all of the other major southern California attractions.

Southern California enjoys a mild year round climate that is classified as Mediterranean. There are two distinct seasonal changes, categorized by the amount of rainfall received - a dry summer and wet winter with modest variation in temperature. In the dry season, a Pacific high-pressure system dominates the weather pattern creating warm and very dry air and a thick marine layer that typically advances inland during the night and burns off to hazy sunshine by midday. Surface pollutants trapped under the marine layer, or fog, create L.A.'s infamous "smog." In winter, the high system is no longer dominant and storms fed by subtropical moisture bring lots of rain into southern California during the months of November through March. Afternoon sea breezes of 10 to 15 mph are common. Strong offshore winds, known as "Santa Anas," though not uncommon, rarely cause damage.
