Angelus Oaks
is a small town of approximately 300 residents, located in San Bernardino County in the Riverside-San Bernardino metro area. It is situated north of Mentone and west of California State Route 38. Small in size but located near some of the biggest attractions in the state, Angelus Oaks offers the best of both worlds. It is near the San Bernardino National Forest, which lies east of Los Angeles and features an abundance of recreational activities for visitors. Choose from hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, camping and off-road vehicle exploration. For winter sports enthusiasts, the ski resorts of Big Bear are only a 40-minute drive away from Angelus Oaks. Jenks Lake, which is a small, picturesque mountain lake, is only five miles from the town of Angelus Oaks. The lake is open year-round from sunrise to sunset and offers a swimming beach, hiking trails, camping and picnicking. Parking is five dollars per vehicle at the lake and there are restrooms available but no concessions. Jenks Lake and the little town of Angelus Oaks is a perfect mountain getaway. Caution is advised when camping in the area because this is an active bear region.

The San Bernardino National Forest, near Big Bear Lake, is the only place in southern California that has four distinct seasons. At nearly 7,000 feet in elevation, the area enjoys warm, pleasant summers and crisp, cold winters. Its alpine tundra climate means plenty of snow in the wintertime for the ski slopes and occasional thunderstorms in spring and summer. The Big Bear Lake region also enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year and is considered one of the sunniest places in the world. However, once the sun dips behind the mountains at night, it can be very cool %u2013 even in the middle of summer. The climate varies greatly from nearby Los Angeles. It can be 75 degrees in the city and 40 degrees in the mountains on the same day.
