Moonridge
is an area of the Big Bear Lake region in the mountains of southern California. Big Bear Lake and village is located in the San Bernardino National Forest, approximately 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Situated 7,000 feet above sea level, this is an outstanding year round recreational resort area and one of the only areas of southern California with four distinct seasons. Beautiful Big Bear Lake sits against a backdrop of forested mountains, offering crisp fresh air and sunshine over 300 days of the year. Almost every type of outdoor recreation can be found here – swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and camping. There’s miniature golf and a water slide park located near Moonridge, and in wintertime, the Big Bear Lake region offers world-class skiing, sledding and snowboarding – all amid some of the most spectacular mountain scenery found anywhere in the world. Big Bear Lake is home to a Discovery Center that offers wildflower walks, bird walks, and stargazing “Nature Nights.” There is some sort of special event or festival going on in the area literally every day of the year. The Moonridge area of the lake offers cabins and cottages, ski cabins, condo rentals and lakeside vacation home rentals. Nearby the town of Big Bear Lake is a nice place to take a leisurely stroll to explore the restaurants and unique shops.

The San Bernardino National Forest, near Big Bear Lake, is the only place in southern California that has four distinct seasons. At nearly 7,000 feet in elevation, the area enjoys warm, pleasant summers and crisp, cold winters. Its alpine tundra climate means plenty of snow in the wintertime for the ski slopes and occasional thunderstorms in spring and summer. The Big Bear Lake region also enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year and is considered one of the sunniest places in the world. However, once the sun dips behind the mountains at night, it can be very cool %u2013 even in the middle of summer. The climate varies greatly from nearby Los Angeles. It can be 75 degrees in the city and 40 degrees in the mountains on the same day.
