Pacifica is a picturesque seaside community located just 12 miles south of San Francisco. Rich in history and filled with natural beauty, Pacifica has much to offer visitors. It has been called "the most beautiful coastal town in all of the San Francisco Bay Area." Rolling hills look out over the Pacific Ocean surf and forested canyons surround the town. For outdoor recreation, Pacifica offers surfing, an 18-hole golf course, two indoor swimming pools, several playing fields and parks, hang gliding, parasailing, biking and several scenic hiking trails. The town is also know for its' crabbing and fishing - both surfcasting and pier fishing. In addition to all of this, Pacifica is just five miles from the San Francisco International Airport and has eleven major shopping areas within the city. Other places to visit while in Pacifica include the Point Montara Lighthouse, the Sanchez Art Center, the Sanchez Adobe, the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and the Shelldance Orchid Nursery. For a vacation destination with some of the most breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, without the crowds and traffic of many other towns in the San Francisco Bay Area, a trip to Pacifica is well worth the drive.

Pacifica Weather & Climate

The peninsula located approximately twenty miles south of San Francisco enjoys a mild year round climate. There is a range in temperature of only approximately 15-20 degrees from summer and winter, with lots of sunshine during the day and cool temperatures at night. This year round vacation destination is greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. Cool ocean breezes help moderate the temperatures in summer and a thick marine layer means early morning clouds and fog that dissipates as it moves inland by noontime. Approximately 18 inches of rainfall is received per year during the months of October through early April. Temperatures are cool enough at night in the wintertime for a cozy fire in the fireplace, but it rarely freezes or goes below the 40-degree mark. Flooding or mudslides are sometimes a problem when lots of rain is received during a short period of time.
