Gualala
is a picturesque little village located along California's Highway 1 in Mendocino County. Gualala, pronounced "Wa la' la," is where land meets the sea in a glorious show of nature, where the Gualala River joins the Pacific Ocean amid forests and rocky cliffs. Shopping is a fun thing to do while in Gualala with its many unique boutiques and galleries that offer original art and unusual handcrafted items. Outdoors activities abound and include golfing at a Scottish Links Golf Course, sea and river kayaking, horseback riding, biking, hiking and camping. Or just walk the miles of beaches and sand dunes, looking for driftwood and seashells. Gualala Point Regional Park boosts "the most beautiful parking lot" in the world and has a paved walkway down to the beach. Visit the Point Arena Lighthouse and Point Arena Wharf to watch a real, working wharf with fishing boats and day trips. Gualala has a variety of accommodations, including cottages, cabins, hotels, rental homes and villas, some with spectacular ocean views. You'll find romantic restaurants in town where you can watch the sunset and listen to the ocean while you dine. Gualala is a whole experience, not just a place, and one that you'll surely want to visit!

Gualala Weather & Climate

The rugged northern Pacific Coast, north of the San Francisco Bay Area, experiences a mild climate year round. There is very little variation in temperature from winter, spring, summer and fall. Summers are dry, but typically cool and foggy right along the coast. Further inland, near the Anderson Valley, temperatures will be warmer with more sunny days. Be advised that it can be in the 60s in the Mendocino coast area, and just 30 miles inland the temperature can be in the 90s. Cool ocean breezes and a thick marine layer helps moderate coastal temperatures. If visiting during wintertime, there is a good chance it will rain during your stay. November through March are the wettest months. Fall is generally the sunniest time along the northern Pacific Coast.
