Fullerton
is situated about 22 miles southeast of Los Angeles in North Orange County in Southern California. It is one of the largest cities in Orange County, with a population of 126,003, as of the 2000 census. The town of Fullerton was founded in 1887 and named for George H. Fullerton, who secured the land on which the town was built on behalf of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Historically, the town was a center of agriculture, notably Valencia oranges and other citrus crops, but today Fullerton is known for its unique mix of residential, commercial, educational and cultural attractions. The town is home to several educational institutions, including the California State University, Fullerton. It also offers a vibrant music and theater scene, with the Fullerton Civic Light Opera being one of the largest theatre companies in Southern California. The city has restored the historic Fox Fullerton Theater, where Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Sr. once appeared, and downtown Fullerton offers a rustic “old west” town atmosphere with shade trees, decorative walkways and more than 70 historic buildings. Modern shopping areas, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants can be found along the city’s thoroughfares. Other Fullerton attractions include Craig Regional Park, the Fullerton Arboretum, the Muckenthaler Cultural Center and the Fullerton Museum.

California's climate varies significantly from one location to the next. Basically, it is semi-tropical along the southern coast with pleasant temperatures during the entire year. Mountain regions can be cooler, especially at night, than nearer the coast. Cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean help moderate the heat in summertime, and keeps temperatures very mild in winter. Summers are dry and the rainy season runs November through March and sometimes April. Low clouds or fog is common along the coast in summer, but it almost always burns off by noon and you can expect sunshine the rest of the day. The Santa Ana winds blow hot and dry out of the south in winter - often hard enough to close some highways.
